Speicher Mural

This amazing mural was painted free hand as a backdrop for MWR shows at Speicher. It was designed and painted by the multi-talented SPC Josh Walters with PFC Del Fierro. SPC Walters is a nurse at the CSH here, and we go to church together.

Retired Blog

Hey, for those of you that have asked. . . . I have retired my other blog for reasons I won't go into for now. I will continue to occasionally put up pics and comments here. And, of course, there's always Amy's blog. Someone suggested that I had been redeployed--not so lucky--I still here in this forsaken country. ~ACE

With so much recently happening in Iraq, I am glad to hear that you are safe and well, Major Efaw. It is unfortunate to hear you have retired your blog. It will be interesting to discover why someday. Wishing you all the best. Thu 23-Jun-2005 05:24

to clarify....... I meant overall that YOUR writing was a good read.....not just the silly bits we added for the poetry contest.

I'm not making sense to myself. I'm going to bed.

You should have taken a picture of our chow hall, that is where (Love to eat) Shack spends most of his time!
He is a great guy, dedicated and deserving of his promotion.

(Danger)ous Pics

A tiny FOB on the way
Wonder what Saddam was building here?
Highway outside Tikrit
View all 42 photos...
These are pics on the way to and at FOB Danger. I There was downtime, so I finally had time to explore. One interesting note: There are several pictures of a mosque and, then, several other pictures of what looks sort of like a Biblical temple ruin. The ruin allegedly is the oldest known Christian site in Iraq. Saddam had a mosque built on top of it to show the superiority of Isam over Christianity. This set also features a pic of Qusay's bombed out house. FOB Danger is a little unusual in that it has a high speed freeway through the middle of it. They had to put up high chain link fences because insurgents were lobbing bombs out of cars. I also have lots of shots of the inside of Saddam's Palace, including one of Saddam's bathrooms. The opulence here is unbelievable esp. when contrasted with abject povery just outside its walls. People were allegedly shot just for looking at the grounds.
